DataCoach is the Essential Esports Broadcast Partner
DataCoach’s strength lies in its ability to turn complex game data into intuitive, narrative-ready insights. This makes it not just a tool for coaches and players, but a valuable asset in the broadcast ecosystem. As esports broadcasts continue to mature, DataCoach is an essential partner to supply insightful, visually engaging metrics that will play a central role in how matches are presented, analyzed, and remembered.
In a landscape where every goal, rotation, and decision can tell a story, DataCoach provides the analytics foundation broadcasters need to capture the full drama of competitive esports.
Crafting Compelling Data Narratives for Broadcast
Great event broadcasts do more than show replays and commentate based on intuition; they interpret the game and break it down for the audience. DataCoach supports esports broadcasts by generating core insights that can be woven into storylines and elevating esports into a professional-grade broadcasting experience.
Below is a real-world example of how DataCoach supported the official 2026 OCE RLCS broadcast, uniting analytics and storytelling to elevate the viewer experience.
DataCoach in Action: Transforming Gameplay Data into Premium Broadcast Storytelling.
With less than 10 days before going live, the OCE RLCS broadcast team requested analytical support that could elevate the production beyond standard overlays and generic stats. The goal was not just to show insights, but to tell meaningful stories across teams and players that commentators could discuss throughout the event.
“DataCoach has been a fantastic addition to the OCE RLCS broadcast for 2026. The statistics are collated in a manner that is easy to digest for the viewer, whilst also providing an incredibly powerful tool for the competing teams. We are looking forward to continuing our affiliation with DataCoach, and believe it should be utilised universally throughout every level of the Rocket League scene” - @CJCJ | Primary Broadcaster for OCE RLCS 2026
/01 Strategy & Broadcast Planning: Crafting Compelling Narratives for Broadcast
We always start with meeting the broadcasting crew to collaborate on potential narratives across teams and players who are participating in the event in order to point us in the right direction.
Next, we were provided full access to all the required match replays, enabling our team to use our software to produce an immediate analysis. This isn’t manual review; it’s automated, standardized analytics that coaches, analysts, and now production crews can rely on. Specifically, the broadcast team provided replays from the matchup between PWR & Wildcard, which they were very interested in learning more about.
With that data, we were then able to develop and craft the core storylines for the broadcast team to lean on during the event.
For the OCE RLCS event our deep analytics from the PWR & WildCard teams uncovered some exciting storylines for the broadcasters to touch on such as:
- PWR was playing faster and further away from the ball when winning,
- Which was the opposite data we saw when Wildcard was winning; as they played slower and closer to the ball;
- Highlighting different strategies teams implemented when they had the lead.
- Wildcard was relying on one player converting xG (expected goals) at a higher rate which ultimately carried their team as other players struggled to do the same
- PWR was successfully playing as a team, and saw more shared efficiencies for xG
/02 Creative Production and Asset Generation in preparation for the Event
Once more storylines across all the teams and players were defined, we moved into a creative production process to create both visual and written insights for the broadcasters to lean on during the live event.
- Team Comparison on Winning Situations: A summary comparing how the teams play when leading or trailing. PWR plays faster and further away from the ball when winning, while Wildcard plays slower and closer when in the lead.
- Player Spotlight:
- Fiberr was the difference maker for PWR, scoring efficiently in the air and on the ground. Fever struggled converting ground attempts.
- Team Plays Visual
- Visual Representation of xG Conversion compared across the top 4 teams
/03 Event Support and Asset updating for event outcomes
As any professional event would, data storylines and outcomes were changing by the match and it was important to keep the broadcasting booth up to speed on what the data was showing. DataCoach provided updated visuals, and key talking points for the commentators to reinforce what they were seeing, with the data.
- Top Performer at the event:
- Solo Plays Visual Representation of xG Conversion
- Team Performance at the event:
- Team Play visual representation of xG Conversion by team & players
- Live stats provided to team for reference and color commentary
- PWR generated more expected goals and were able to convert efficiently
The Outcome
A professional grade broadcast for an official Rocket League event by providing:
- Data-driven storytelling that felt intentional, not just forced in
- Polished graphics that matched professional production standards
- Commentary supported by clear, defensible insights, rather than intuition alone
- Event support before, during and after to ensure data stays relevant and creative assets reflect the event's progress.
